Relaxation Meditation
You can listen to this meditation here on your computer, or you can download it onto your MP3 player. I invited you to first do a meditation where you ask to meet your Inner Wise Being. Be open to whatever it might be. It could be a light, a flower, or an image of a Goddess. It doesn't really matter. It's just a way to have a more visceral experience of your inner guidance, your intuition. Just be open to whatever advice you receive. In the years I've been doing this I've received life altering advice. I've described a couple below.
Just the Music for when you don't want my voice guiding you through the meditation:
Here are some examples of what I have learned by doing this meditation.
When I was struggling to save my marriage, I drove up North, above Santa Barbara and checked into a hotel. I got settled in and decided to do a meditation. Once I was relaxed, I asked my Goddess, "How can I be okay with the open marriage my husband is asking for?" Her instant replay was, "You can't and stop asking." That's actually pretty funny. The next day I drove back to Santa Barbara and announced that I was done. I moved to Maui and then Bali for a total of 5 months and never once felt I'd made the wrong decision.
Another time, when I was 56 and moving into my first home that I had purchased on my own, I knew I needed to get on with whatever I was supposed to do. (An $800,000 mortgage will do that to you.) So I decided to do a meditation. I asked, "What is my purpose in this next, and probably final, phase of my life?"
Instead of the usual Goddess, Thomas Paine, Benjamin Franklin, Michelangelo and Galileo (all dear friends of mine) appeared. I was surprised but I've learned not to question what comes up in my meditations. So I asked them, "What am I supposed to be doing with the rest of my life?"
They huddled together and fairly quickly Thomas Paine, whom I know the best, said, "Your purpose in life is to inspire people to do the work required to be happy."
This surprised me because I would have come up with "Inspire people to be happy," because for years, my purpose, discovered in a meditation, was, "...to be joyful, and through the expression of that joy, make a difference."
This new purpose was much more specific and added the part about inspiring people to "do the work required to be happy." That was new and the absolute truth. And it has guided me ever since.
I hope that helps you see the value of doing these meditations whenever you wish to connect with your inner truth and wisdom or simply to relax.
